Terpsiphone incei
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Breeds in China and the Russian Far East; winters in Southeast Asia
The Amur paradise flycatcher is a monarch flycatcher with a black hood, white underparts, a small crest and a blue orbital ring. Breeding males occur in two upperpart colour forms and can develop central tail feathers twice the length of the body. Females and immature birds lack the extreme tail. Until 2015, Terpsiphone incei was usually treated as a subspecies of the Asian paradise flycatcher rather than a full species (Wikipedia, general species account).
Its documented breeding range includes China and Primorsky Krai in the Russian Far East, and it migrates to Southeast Asia for winter. The opened account does not include Korea in the core range, so any Korean record is best treated as an exceptional occurrence requiring careful separation from other paradise flycatchers. Plumage form, age and sex can all change appearance. No Korean breeding, diet or abundance claims are made without a regional species-level source (Wikipedia, general species account).
