Phylloscopus yunnanensis
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Habitat
Dry forest and high-elevation shrubland
Range
China
Size
About 10cm
The Chinese leaf warbler is a bright, compact Phylloscopus about 10 cm long, with a wing length near 5–6 cm. La Touche described Phylloscopus yunnanensis in 1922; P. sichuanensis is a younger synonym. Like many leaf warblers it requires attention to head pattern, wing markings and voice, because related species can appear extremely similar during migration (general species account; IOC-aligned checklist).
Its established natural range is in China, where it inhabits dry subtropical forest and high-altitude shrubland. Research has documented incubation in Gansu, but the opened sources do not establish a regular Korean population. A Korean record should therefore be supported by sound and diagnostic photographs. No Korean diet, clutch, abundance or seasonality is asserted from the catalogue listing alone (Chinese Journal of Zoology; general species account).
