The redhead is a compact, medium-sized North American diving duck species, 40–56 cm long with a 74–84 cm wingspan. Males have a rounded copper-red head, yellow eye, black breast, grey body and blue-grey bill tipped black. Females are brown but share the dark-tipped bill. Compared with canvasback, the head is rounder and the bill shorter (Cornell Lab; BirdNET taxonomy account).
Redheads breed around reedy ponds of the North American Great Plains and West, gathering in large flocks during migration and winter. They feed chiefly on aquatic plants, while ducklings take substantial animal food. Because the normal range is American, a Korean sighting is exceptional and needs strong documentation rather than an assumption of regular presence. No Korean breeding or abundance is inferred (Cornell Lab; Animal Diversity Web).
